Final Fantasy is back with a bang, yet again, as Square Enix, the publisher of the game, has announced a brand new game for the series.
This time, the game is called Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. As the name suggests, the game will be focused on the main character of the previous two Final Fantasy XIII games, Lightning.
However, it is the last time that you will see Lightning in the series because according to Motomu Toriyama, the director of the game, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is the last game for Lightning because she will face her last and ultimate fight in this one.
The game is being referred to as a “world-driven” game, which we think means that the game will have some kind of social linkages to it. However, it hasn’t been confirmed as to what the world-driven label means.
As far as the gameplay goes, according to the publisher, actions in this game will be based on key/console button responses and from the clues picked in the presentation, where the publisher announced the game, we think the game will be more action packed this time even though Square Enix wasn’t too bent on mentioning it during the presentation.
Users will have different options when it will come to Lightning, the main character in the game. Reportedly, users will be able to change her outfits and choose different weapons for her from a different variety of options.
Apparently, when it will come to customizing Lightning, users will have A LOT of options as according to Andriasang, users will be able to choose from 10-20 outfits.
The game will be based in “Navus Partus” and the presentation delivered by Square Enix was centered on the biggest city in Navus Partus, Lexerion.
Square Enix announce d the game at the publisher’s Final Fantasy Gallery located in Japan.
Additionally, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will make its way to different consoles. There is no word regarding which consoles it will be coming to and we aren’t quite sure either. However, since the initial two games did make their way to the PlayStation 3 console and the Xbox 360 console, we believe that the new game will probably grace the two consoles.
Moreover, unlike popular beliefs, the game will not be gracing social networks and it will also not be available for users to play on their Android or iOS devices. Past rumors had suggested that the game will be coming to mobile platforms and social networks but it has been confirmed that the new game will be restricted to consoles only.
Further details about the new game remain vague. Here is a roundup of some of the things we know about the new Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII game so far:
- It will be more action paced
- Users will have a greater number of customization options for Lightning
- The game will be based in Navus Partus
- The game will not be gracing iOS/Android/Windows Phone
- There is no confirmation regarding which consoles the game will be coming to but we think PS3 and Xbox 360 are a must
