Apple released the new iPod Touch and iPod Nano generations, and they come with many improvements compared to previous versions.

The new iPhone 5 was however the star of the Apple press conference, but Apple also released new iPod versions, devices that started to become very popular at the beginning of 2000.

iPod Touch – 4 Inch Screen

The most important device of this family is, without a doubt, the iPod Touch, which now packs a 4 inch Retina Display and 16:9 aspect ratio, the same screen that will come with the new iPhone 5.  The body has a thickness of only 6.1 mm and a weight of 88 grams.

One of the best aspects is that the autonomy was improved up to 40 hours. This means that you can listen to music for 2 days non stop without having to recharge the battery.

Another interesting aspect is the new EarPod headphones. Apple says they provide better sound quality and they have a better water and sweat protection.

Hardware wise, the new iPod Touch includes the A5 processor ( the same processor of the iPhone 4 ) and the 5 MP camera is named iSight, just like the iPhone 5, while the frontal camera allows you to do FaceTime calls at 720p HD resolution.

Connectivity is done through Wi-Fi but there is also support for Bluetooth 4.0 you can also take advantage of what the Siri personal assistant from Apple has to offer.

You can pre-order the new iPod Touch starting with September 15 and it will arrive on the market in October, in six different colors.

The prices of the new iPod Touch are: $299 for the 32 GB version and $399 for the 64 GB version.

iPod Nano – 2.5 Inch Screen

Apple also improved the iPod Nano player. The player now comes with a 2.5 inch touchscreen, and a menu that includes six icons on the main screen grouped on two columns and three rows.

The new iPod Nano also comes with a “Home” screen and multiple buttons on the sides to control volume, to pause the music or to switch tunes.

The new iPod Nano has an autonomy of up to 30 hours and the battery can be charged via the new Lightning controller, which can also be used with the iPhone 5 and iPod Touch.

It also benefits from Bluetooth support and integrated FM Radio, as well as some fitness apps such as Nike+.

And, of course, the new EarPod headphones can also be found in the package.

The new iPod Nano will be available in a 16 GB version and in seven colors at a price of $149.
