Konami Digital Entertainment has recently revealed the release dates and some new screenshots for their upcoming title, Metal Gear Rising Revengeance.
They will be publishing Metal Gear Rising Revengeance when it launches for the Xbox 360 in Asia, Europe and North America regions on February 19th, in Japan on February 21st and in U.K. on February 22nd.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is an upcoming action video game. The game is being developed by Platinum Games and produced by Kojima Productions as part of the Metal Gear series. This game was previously known as Metal Gear Solid Rising and was originally developed by Kojima Productions, who are responsible for the previous Metal Gear Solid games. However, now Platinum Games has taken over the development of this game.
A Microsoft Windows version of this game was originally planned by Konami Productions; however it was rumored to have been cancelled in December 2011.
The game is set several years after the events of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. The story will basically focus on the former agent Raiden who is to be encountered by cyborg enemies while aiding in the rebuilding of an unknown country. Gameplay will focus on two key elements.
These are sword fighting and a style of stealth that is more fast-paced and action-oriented. A key gameplay feature for this game is titled zan-datsu. With this feature the players can cut through enemies and take parts from the bodies of dismembered cyborgs and robots.
Rising’s stealth elements will focus on Raiden’s considerable speed and agility through what Matsuyama describes as hunting stealth.
Also unlike the waiting stealth of previous titles, in which players remained hidden and avoided combat, in this game players will quickly stalk their enemies and use acrobatic maneuvers to stay out of sight while closing in.
The hunting stealth will in turn tie up with the game’s zan-datsu feature, allowing the player to prey upon enemies to obtain weapons, items, and energy.
