Recently, Microsoft announced that users who own smartphones running on Windows Phone 7.5 will be able to update their phones to Windows Phone 7.8. However, a lot of people want to know what the new update will offer.
If you have a Windows Phone 7.5 and are looking to find out the changes that the update will bring to your phone, read on for more information below.
Windows Phone 7.8 will not be feature a lot of changes if one compares it to the changes Windows 8 will bring due to hardware restrictions. However, there will still be some changes to look forward to.
Start Screen
The new Windows Phone 7.8 update will change your Windows Phone 7.5 start screen for the better. With the new update, you will be able to fill up the entire start screen with different tiles of various sizes.
As a result of the tiles, you will be able to look at all your information displayed on the main screen, which will facilitate ease for you.
Take a look at the Windows Phone 7.8 below:
Applications On Windows Phone 7.8
Microsoft has announced that all Windows 7.5 applications will be compatible with Windows Phone 7.8. Moreover, since the applications that are developed for Windows Phone 7.8 will work perfectly on Windows Phone 8, developers will be encouraged to develop more and more apps.
That means with the new update, you will also get a lot of new applications (hopefully).
Note to developers: Applications that are developed specifically for Windows Phone 8 will not work on Windows Phone 7.8.
New Tile Sizes
With the new Windows Phone 7.8 update, you will get two new tile sizes on the Start Screen. There will also be a lot of different themes and colors to choose from, which previously were not available on Windows Phone 7.5.
The two new sizes in which the tiles will be available in will be “Small”, which will take up just quarter of the Windows Phone 7 tile space and leave a lot of space to display other tiles.
The second size will be “Large”, which will take up the entire width of the screen. The different tile sizes have been added to let users adjust their applications’ width on their screen just as they want.
How To Get The New Update?
The update will not be carrier specific, as announced by Microsoft. Instead, Microsoft will directly roll out the update that users can get their hands on via Wi-Fi connectivity, Zune or if they have Mac software, they can get it through Windows Phone Connector.
