Over the past few years the Resident Evil franchise has completely changed. What started out as a game that freaked the player out with limited supply of ammo and health, is now nothing but third person shooter game. The demo we got our hands on proves that Resident Evil has forever changed, read on to find out what kind of changes you can expect.
First of all, for a demo, this is actually quite lengthy. We were able to finish it in an hour which is a lot for a demo. When it starts, Capcom gives you a choice between three campaigns. As previously seen through gameplay footage, we can play the story of Chris, Leon or Miller.
All three of these characters are based in different locations with their own missions and stories. Even the gameplay is a bit changed for all three campaigns. For example, when you decide to hop on and play as Leon, you will find out that this mode gives you the original Resident Evil feel. There are lesser enemies but harder to kill and supplies are also very low.
Jump next to Chris and you will find yourself in a battlefield surrounded by super human soldiers and the gameplay changes into high octane shoot em up. You will be killing a lot of soldiers with ample supply of ammunition. Most enemies suffer a quick death much like in any shooter game. Similar gameplay was part of Miller’s campaign.
The demo was pretty straight forward with few cut scenes included for entertainment. However, we did come across some awkward technical issues like texture popping out and some stutter in the gameplay. We also noted that as of now, the load times are very long. We encountered a place where the game took nearly a minute to load the next screen.
We were quite satisfied with the content the developers have given in the demo. The controls also feel like they are pretty decent with the style of gameplay the new Resident Evil has taken. Hopefully, if you can forget about the classic RE gameplay, you may easily fall in love with it.
