Whoever saw the live conferences this year at E3 agree that Ubisoft’s new IP ‘Watchdogs’ stole the entire E3 tradeshow. The game was one of the biggest announcements of this year’s tradeshow simply because Ubisoft did not even reveal a single word about a new IP in development. With their new game, Ubisoft has proven why E3 is the best place for all gamers to be.
Ubisoft also surprised everyone with the concept of the video game. The background story, the characters and the environments all point toward a Triple A title that will surely make as big as Assassins Creed one day.
One of the best things about the game is the ability to control technology with a click of a single button. The game is the first we have seen which allows you to manipulate traffic signals and even subway trains.
Everyone loves a game with a antihero, and Aiden Pearce of Watchdogs is a character that we will easily fall in love with. He is a bad ass hacker and an assassin on the lookout for specific targets. And to kill them he hacks the security using his cell phone.
From the demonstration during the E3 tradeshow, we can see that Watchdogs is a complete mix of high octane action combined with stealth action. The ability to control technology at will and then get down straight in a gun fight sounded too awesome to ignore.
Watchdogs also made it big due to the fact that it is an open world game. We have seen a lot of open world games in the past but none has combined the stealth action with gun fights in a single package. This game feels like it’s a combination of Assassins Creed and Grand Theft Auto with a little bit of Syndicate in it. If done correctly, the mechanics of the game could make easily make it the next big IP of our time.
