Unreal Engine 4’s tech demo was unveiled last night and many people who had been waiting for Epic to release the demo were largely disappointed. After its first appearance following its showcase at GDC, the Unreal Engine 4 has displeased many including me.

The latest demonstration of Epic demonstrates the rise of some fire demon as he comes out of a frozen throne, letting loose of a volcanic eruption in an attempt to make a hot entry. The lighting effects, as shown by the demo, are handled well by the Unreal Engine 4 but other things have disappointed at large.

Even though the lighting seems crisp in the demo, most of the gamers have been displeased by what they saw the demo reveal. The graphics though are good, are not as good as the graphics seen in next-generation games. People these days are comparing every new demo release with others and when compared, the Unreal Engine 4 disappoints graphically.

The precise attention to details doesn’t seem to be there like a lot of us saw in Agni’s Philosophy and CryEngine. The Unreal Engine 4 demo shown doesn’t blow one away on first glance. Things haven’t been changed much in Unreal Engine 4; instead of upgrading UE4, things have hardly been improved. The details which all gamers look forward to are clearly missing and the character models also seem jacked.

There is a chance that Unreal Engine 4’s graphics get improved in the future that may increase details, graphics, textures as well as bring improvement to characters but from the released demo, we along with many other gamers have been extremely disappointed.

Epic is one of the big players of the gaming industry because a lot of games use Unreal since it is very accessible but with the tech demo of Unreal Engine 4 released, I believe Epic can do a lot better.
