Traveler’s Tales returns with another charming title based on the Batman universe in its all LEGO glory. The LEGO games started appearing some years ago and since then have achieved a huge fan following.
Their charm and stories based on popular comics and movies have left us wanting more every year. We are reviewing this game today to see if the developers have brought any changes to the game or does it use the same formula again which has been used for past so many years.
LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes really doesn’t change anything when it comes to gameplay. However, the actual changes outside the typical gameplay mechanics are huge.
For example, let’s start with the new open ended game world. Previous LEGO games have always had players hopping from one mission to another; LEGO Batman 2 is the first game in this popular franchise to introduce the open world game environments. This means that you not only get the entire Gotham city to explore, but also get to ride your Batmobile complete with navigation and Minimap.
With an open world, exploring for secrets is better than ever. LEGO games have always been about collecting a lot of things, and with an open world design, you will find yourself digging each street of Gotham city in order to find goodies.
The next major change in this LEGO game, which also sets it apart from others, is the full voice over support. Previous LEGO games have always used charming gestures and sounds to tell the story of the game. LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes has a full cast of voice actors, making the story all the more interesting and fun to listen to.
LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes features a lot of popular characters from the DC comic books. Some familiar faces include Superman, Robin, The Joker, Lex Luther and many more. The charm of the game is in its characters and how they are portrayed. With the new voice over, LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes really do makes it stand apart from others.
In my opinion, the weakest point of the game is its story. Although it’s portrayed beautifully and you can’t help yourself laugh on several occasions, it is still quite a weak plot. The generic story has Batman and Robin seeking help from the Justice League when things go wrong between the two heroes and arch enemies The Joker and Lex Luther.
The game is basically divided into three parts. The first part allows you to take control of Batman with Robin. The second part is a mix between Batman, Super Man and Robin. The third part has a lot of other characters popping in and out to help Batman. However, do not expect other Super Heroes to have a major role in the story or the game.
LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes is a superb LEGO game. If you love the idea of finding a lot of hidden stuff and can’t get away from charming characters, this is an excellent title for you to pick up
