Samsung Galaxy S III, maybe the most anticipated smartphone of the year, is set to be released today, on May 3, 2012, in London, during the Samsung Unpacked event, an event described on thenextgalaxy.com website.

Many websites, including GEV, presented many rumors about the technical specifications of the new Galaxy S3 smartphone over the last few weeks. This event will be closely monitored by Apple’s bosses, as they want to see what the new iPhone rival brings to the table.

Let’s talk about some of the rumors about the new Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone.

Display: It will be protected by Gorilla Glass 2, a glass that is more resistant to scratches and shocks, and it seems that it won’t show fingerprints. Most information show that the new Galaxy will come with a Super AMOLED display.

Dimensions: Most rumors say that the screen of the new Galaxy will be bigger than the screen of the Galaxy S2: 4.6 inch compared to 4.3 inch. Some sources also say that it will come with a 4.8 inch screen, but IT market analysts think that such a screen is too big for a smartphone.

Color: According to some sources, Samsung Galaxy S III will be available in two versions: carbon blue and ceramic white.

Processor: This might be one think that might set the new Galaxy apart from other smartphones. Rumors say that the new Galaxy will come with a 1.6 GHZ quad core processor.

Camera: Many said that the Galaxy S3 will come with a 12 MP camera and LED flash.

Competition is High

Besides the iPhone smartphone from Apple, Samsung Galaxy S3 will have at least one more powerful rival. HTC One X includes a quad core 1.5 GHZ processor and HD 4.7 inch display.

The HTC One X is also equipped with Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset, 1 GB of RAM memory, and the internal storage capacity is 32 GB. The photo camera is similar to the one of the iPhone 4S: 8 MP, auto focus, LED Flash.
