Last week the gaming world saw two of the biggest releases of the year, Diablo III and Max Payne 3. While a lot of people thought that Max Payne 3 would be overshadowed by the release of Blizzard’s titular franchise Diablo, official records prove otherwise. Blizzard announced last week that Diablo III has set for them the biggest preorder record the company has ever seen in its history, with 3 million copies preordered. Take Two Interactive, the publisher behind Max Payne 3 revealed today in a financial report that the company has already shipped 3 million copies of the game.
Max Payne 3 has already received warm critical response from various critics and players both. The game continues the story from the last two games and brings back a host of features. Additionally, the developers released digital versions of Max Payne comics for the game that will help players dig in the past of Max Payne and better understand the root story.
Max Payne 3 is now available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The PC gamers will have to wait a little while longer because of certain technical issues that have kept the developers from releasing the game on PC. Max Payne 3 which was scheduled to arrive on the PC on 29th May is now rescheduled to arrive on June 1st.
Take Two Interactive has also revealed statistical data about other games in its recent financial report. The report revealed that another popular title from the publishers, Borderlands, has been shipped for 6 million units, while its popular Bioshock franchise stays on top with 9.5 million copies shipped.
Take Two is enjoying a good time right now as the company revealed through its financial report that revenue of the company has reached $825.8 million. This is actually a 27% decrease from last year same period. Looking at the current situation of the gaming industry, even this amount of revenue is great for the company. The success of the company last year was due to Red Dead Redemption, which was an instant hit amongst the fans.
