PlayStation 3 Game Review: World Gone Sour
Reviewed by Jennifer – GEV.com

Crossovers are known for producing embarrassing and mediocre games, but World Gone Sour is a bit different from others.

This game is based on Sour Patch kids and offers a decent side scrolling platform mechanics. This isn’t a great game by any means, but considering that it comes as a downloadable title with a very low price, I am ready to forgive it. I sit down to review this game and see if it’s even worth $5.

The good thing about World Gone Sour is its humor. I was struck by the game’s humor as soon as I sat down to play. Thanks to very well narrated sequences, the game is a little more interesting.

Your aim in the game is to find out what happens to Sour Patch Kids when they drop on the floor. By going through three different levels, you will find that out. You will also come across some boss battles while on your adventure.

The gameplay of World Gone Sour is very typical and should be easily understandable by anyone who has played a side scroller. You command a character that can jump around and conduct special moves. He can also use little kids throughout the adventure that allows him to grow bigger in size.

Growing in size allows your character to conduct special moves only available in larger size. A small character will be killed instantly if an enemy comes in contact, but a larger character might be able to survive the first hit.

Growing in size is important in World Gone Sour. As you consume your little friends, you become bigger and stronger. This allows you to endure more damage and conduct special moves like breaking weak floor and throwing stuff at enemies with armor.

Mario fans will be delighted to play the game because it nearly works the same way. My only concern was that the game is a bit too short, leaving players wanting more. You can easily hook up with your friends in local co op and play the game. The great thing is that it is only available for $5. So if you have a little time to kill and $5 in your pocket, try it out.
