Developed by Zombie studios, Blacklight: Retribution is a free to play first person shooter game. The interesting thing about the game is that the developers have not tried to bring in any innovative formula to change the genre; instead, they combine one of the finest modifications and gameplay from a number of different shooters into one wonderful package. Even Zombie studios understand that it is quite hard to bring in seasoned gamers away from their favorite game; as a result, they made this game free to play. I sit down in this review and try to see what makes this game is so good
The first time you will sit down to play Blacklight: Retribution, you will think of it as a typical shooter. But after going through the game for a while, it is quite easy to see that the sheer amount of customization options the developers have put in makes this game almost a RPG.
Customization options are abundant in Blacklight: Retribution. You can customize the look of your character, you can have them wear armor that gives those statistical advantages or even have them equip extra stuff that boosts their health, armor and other attributes. But customizing your character is nothing compared to the options the developers have given you to customize your weaponry.
In Blacklight: Retribution, when you first start, you are equipped with a very basic shotgun or assault rifle. After a little time, you realize that the game offers you a chance to change the bullets, clips, stock, sight barrel and more. Every extra piece you customize changes the way your weapon works. You can easily tailor a perfect weapon for your play style using the insane customizing system.
Without character customization, Blacklight: Retribution would be a very typical shooter. But with so many customization options, this is one of the best shooters I have come across in recent memory. In addition to its excellent gameplay mechanics, the controls are tight and responsive too. It almost feels like you are playing Call of Duty which is known for its controls. Fans of first person competitive shooters are highly recommended to check this game out.
