In the war for leadership in the graphics card industry, Nvidia has just launched its weapon of mass destruction against AMD. In order to keep the crown to itself, the Kepler based chip has been upgraded to dual chip and is set to be available as the GeForce GTX 690.

Following the successful release of nVidia GeForce GTX 680, the new dual chip graphics card will shortly be available for purchase at $999. Currently, the company just announced its powerful new card during the Games Festival in Shanghai. At least 6,000+ gamers were competing against each other in this event.

The new nVidia based GTX 690 has set everything on a high standard. It not only performs faster than any other card on the planet, but also has looks that are pretty much unmatched. It is constructed using chromium Plated Aluminum and its fan is being molded using magnesium alloy. Thanks to the new Kepler based chip, records have already proven that this is indeed the fastest graphics card available today. The nVidia GeForce GTX 690 uses new technology to keep the power consumption low while giving maximum output performance.

The new GTX 690 delivers maximum performance with the help of 3072 Cuda cores. These cores which are exclusively available only in Nvidia based cards are capable of handling both gaming and video editing based tasks. When put against the flagship card from AMD, the GTX 690 produces 2x times’ better results. The same can be said when it is compared with its sibling, the GTX 680, which beat AMD’s 7970 hands on in many benchmarks.

Those who are very sensitive to noise will be happy to hear that the nVidia GTX 690 actually produces very low sound. When two GTX 680s are combined together in a single machine, the sound gets very loud and it’s a noisy mess. Thanks to the new dual chip card, noise will never be an issue for enthusiast gamers. The new card will be made available on May 3rd and May 7th with the help of nVidia’s partners that include EVGA, Asus, Inno3D, MSI and more.
