Just like ZTE, Huawei, a Chinese manufacturer of 3G modems and other goods have entered the smartphone arena to make a presence felt of its own. But unlike ZTE, Huawei has given us a variety of phones to checkout, each being good in its own. The new Huawei Honor is a mid range Android phone that offers a lot of beef at a very low cost. These things include stuff like a 4 incher display, 1.4GHZ CPU and 8 megapixel camera. This proves that Huawei is definitely in the mood to take the fight directly to the big guns of the industry and this review will help prove why this phone is worth it.
Design wise, it doesn’t feel the best in your hand but for the price, the plasticky feel is acceptable. It may feel bad in the hand, but Huawei Honor actually does have a good design to look at. With a glittery white back and only 11 mm thick, it is a good deal for a mid ranged device. The only problem is that it weighs a little too much for a smartphone. All the buttons on the phone are actually quite easy to reach and operate.
The Huawei Honor features a 4 inches display that offers a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels. In simple words, this means that the display is actually quite pretty to look at. You get decent saturated and warm colors with high brightness and contrast ratios. The high ratios mean that you also get pretty average viewing angles and the phone can be operated in the sun to some extent. Performance wise, the phone’s 1.4GHZ processor with 512 MB RAM is a pretty good combination offering you operation without lag and stutter. With Android 2.3.6 installed on the phone, I did not feel any slowdowns at all.
Huawei gives the option to switch to the original stock interface of Android or the custom designed by the company. If you don’t like the custom interface, you can always switch to the stock one. This is a great choice that isn’t often available on other phones until you tweak them a lot. The Huawei Honor is definitely worth getting your hands on because of the excellent price performance ratio.
