PC Game Review: Microsoft Flight: Hawaiian Adventure Pack

I recently did a review of the new Microsoft Flight and arguably called it the worst in the series. This was because much of the realism factor of the previous Microsoft Flight Simulator series has been stripped off to appeal mass market. With the newest edition, it is hard for me to imagine that hardcore fans of the series will want to keep playing it. Sure there are a lot of things the game borrows from the predecessors, but it still gets rid of more things than bringing back the feel of the game. This review is about the additional pack Microsoft just released for the game, and it’s called the Hawaiian Adventure Pack.
One of the best things about the series has always been the environments you fly in and the real time weather in the location that updates using internet. Unfortunately, the trip to Hawaii in the Hawaiian Adventure Pack is dull and uninteresting. The package basically introduces some new challenges and jobs that were not available in the original free download. So paying $20 for a package that doesn’t really add too much to the game does not make any sense.

Microsoft has been clever with the formula for their new Flight simulator. I’m talking about the available number of downloadable content that you can purchase. The only problem with the Hawaiian Adventure Pack is that it simply cannot work without another DLC. If you don’t buy the $15 cargo light plane DLC, most of the jobs available in Hawaiian Adventure Pack will be impossible to complete. This is quite disappointing because a lot of people do not buy all the DLCs available on the shop. Microsoft should have let the players complete everything in the new package without buying another DLC.
Its only a few hours after that you realize that in order to take advantage of the Hawaiian Adventure Pack, you will need to buy even more plane DLCs. This is ridiculous and beats the idea of downloadable content. I would definitely not waste your money on the package if you haven’t bought all the DLCs available for the game.
