Samsung Galaxy Note will be getting the Ice Cream Sandwich update and new apps in the 2nd quarter of the year. As a part of the upgrade, users will finally get their hands on the much awaited ICS and new apps that will allow them to take advantage of the digital pen found in the Galaxy Note.

The upgrade will be available for every Galaxy Note phone globally, said the Korean based company Samsung. However, it didn’t reveal the exact date of the new  update’s arrival on the phone. Reports suggest that Samsung Galaxy Note will get the update by the 2nd quarter of the year.

The phone was launched last year in September. The Galaxy Note phone has a 5.3 inch Super AMOLDED screen and is a multipurpose device as it can be used as a smart notepad and also a smartphone. The phone comes equipped with a digital S Pen that allows users to draw and write on the screen of the phone directly.

One of the apps that the phone will get is S Note, which is an application that permits users to mix their sketches and notes with other sort of content on the phone. The application, S Note, will come equipped with templates for diary entries and meeting minutes, which means that users will be able to record their minutes to meeting and other important things by the use of the app.

Another application will be My Story, which will make it possible for users to use the phone to make cards for their family and friends by using different and any kind of content they like, including photos, notes, video content, text and voice.

In the last week, Samsung updated the Galaxy S II smartphone and brought the ICS upgrade to the device. Other devices, apart from Galaxy Note, will also get the new upgrade.
