Yu Darvish Shows Up At Rangers Camp

Yu Darvish, the known player originally from Japan, made an arrival at the spring training complex as he showed up at the Texas Rangers training session on Tuesday. The new addition to the team had his first bullpen session with his new team, the Rangers.

Yu Darvish came to the came in Surprise, Ariz, one day prior to the reporting date for Texas Rangers catchers and pitchers. Ron Washington, manager of Texas Rangers said that Yu Darvish threw almost 35 pitches at the session.

Washington said that he hit the right spots and kept the ball down. Adding further, he said he can not only sink it but he can also run it. Washington, while further praising the player said, “He’s definitely got a good feel for baseball, he’s a power pitcher with finesse stuff”.

Yu Darvish is the top pitcher of Japan and Texas Rangers, American League champions indulged in a deal worth more than $107 million in order to bring him to their side. Darvish, who is 25 years of age, signed a six year contract deal with the Rangers, which guarantees the player $56 million, while Texas Rangers had to pay a record sum of $51,703,411 posting bid to Darvish’s last team, the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters.

The official workout will take place on Thursday and according to Darvish’s team, he is not supposed to talk to media personnel’s till then. The player didn’t utter a single word to the media when he made his way to the clubhouse from the parking lot on Tuesday or when he came off the field.  Till Thursday, Texas Rangers practice fields and clubhouse will remain closed to media personnel’s.

Darvish, who is 6 ft, 5 inches, has had a record of 93-38 having a 1.99 ERA in 167 games played in the last seven years.
