If you recently deleted a photo on Facebook and thought that it was deleted for good, then you are wrong. Deleted photos on Facebook never really disappear and can easily be accessed by a link by anyone who knows the exact link of the image. Even Facebook has agreed that their system isn’t the perfect one and can keep the photos there for a period of time. This news is definitely going to shock a number of people who deleted some embarrassing pictures of themselves only to find out that they are still in the system.
When you delete an image, it immediately disappears from your timeline or photo album, but if you save the URL of the image and paste it into the URL bar of your browser window after the picture has been deleted, you are going to open that very same image you just deleted. This image will not go anywhere for a long time. This also means if someone grabbed a URL of your image and forwarded in an email, it will be there for forever.
A lot of users have already raised the concern behind this flaw of Facebook and the company has promised over and over again to fix the problem but hasn’t really taken any action so far. A website confirmed that an image of someone which was taken down from the profile of a person in 2008 is still visible to the open public via a link in 2012. Facebook users have also reported that they have been harassed using the social platform and their photos which were deleted by them ages ago.
A number of users have already reported the problem many times to Facebook via the contact Facebook link, but unfortunately, no matter how many times you approach Facebook for the problem, they still only ‘promise to fix’ the issue. Even now in Feb 2012, in its latest statement, the company has once again promised that new changes are coming to the photos system that will completely remove the images from the database.
