The addicting formula of the Rhythm Heaven series first appeared outside Japan on the Nintendo DS almost three years ago. When released, it became an instant favorite for a lot of people because of its unique gameplay which was fun, addicting, simple and challenging at the same time. Three years later, the game is making its way to the Wii in a full package and I have finally got my hands on it for the review. If you have played the first original games, you are going to love the whole package.

The basic gameplay mechanics of Rhythm Heaven Fever have not changed at all from the original games. You find yourself 50 new mini games to take part in which include 10 different remixes of the first four levels of the game. Each mini game offers you a different style and a set of different rules. You also get to hear a different music in each game. To unlock the next level, you are required to clear a stage with a minimum score. Unlike the DS version, you don’t tap the screen; instead, you press the buttons to follow the beat.

One of the best features of Rhythm Heaven Fever I found throughout the review is the amount of depth the developers have put in to create the world of the game. Each stage and mini game is bursting with lots of flavor that represent the overall personality of the game. A lot of you will think that just pressing the A and B button is quite simple, but honestly, it is far more addicting than you can imagine. While the gameplay is quite linear and simple, going for medals in all stages can be a tough and challenging task.

For me Rhythm Heaven Fever is a great game, however, when I got the console package, I expected the developers to grow the same formula, unfortunately, it seems that the developers did not try to add anything new from the basic gameplay mechanics of the originals. But that does not mean you shouldn’t play this title, if you have already played the originals, you are going to love this one.
