What’s Next For BlackBerry

BlackBerry, a product of Research In Motion, hasn’t had much success as time has went on by. It’s one of those products who rose to fame very early but dropped very soon after new phones were introduced by contending firms including Apple and phones based on Android.

Recently, after experiencing extreme criticism, the two co-CEO of the company stepped down. The new CEO was announced after both the former co-CEO announced their departure from the firm but later on, it was revealed that investors remained un-optimistic about the new chief executive officer of the company.

BlackBerry did miserably in 2011 with its PlayBook tablet failing and lack of success of its phones. One cannot point fingers here at Apple or other companies for breaking BlackBerry’s market share because Research In Motion hasn’t released any new products as such that would wow consumers. Repeating the same design and essentially everything else in its products, the company has failed to attract new customers towards its phones. One could have easily pointed fingers at other factors instead of Research In Motion for its failure only if the company had launched several innovative design phones and yet they met by failure.

It was also revealed recently that Research In Motion will launch only one phone based on the OS 10 software, the new operating system of the firm. The phone to have this operating system is going to be BlackBerry London. Recently, new images of the phone were leaked on the internet. Pictures revealed a phone having a similar design such as the iPhone. The new phone is said to come with a better processor and other additional features. However, is one phone sufficient for RIM to gain back momentum in the market? Certainly not. BlackBerry is always away from the speculating eye as well which means the company’s plans for the year have not been uncovered but the fate of the Canadian based firm still seems dark.
