One of the things that strike us about the Mad Men Season Five Promo is the fact that they seem to have remained true to the 1960s themes. The original program was noted for its ability to talk about painful themes such as male chauvinism without descending into the seductive elements of self pity. The ability to describe life in that decade was striking especially when you contrast with the corporate jungle films of the 1980s. Elizabeth Moss promises a moving Peggy Olson while John Slattery is going to be an enigmatic Roger Sterling. Of course we cannot forget January Jones as Betty Francis. She has had a bit of baby momma trouble during the hiatus.
Other stars that are going to be part of the program include Vincent Katheriser who takes on the role of Pete Campbell and Christina Hendricks who takes on the role of Joan Harris. Do not forget to watch out for the quiet but effective Jon Ham as Don Draper. One of the themes that are going to get tongues wagging is the possibility that one of the stars descends into outright alcoholism. We know that the vice of smoking is alive and well but drinking has not been tackled effectively so far.
