Video of Nearly Naked Chinese Toddler in the Snow Sparks Outrage throughout China
A video what was posted online a few days ago has brought a massive firestorm in China. The video shows a four year old boy running down a street in Flushing, New York. There is snow everywhere, but the boy is only wearing a pair of underpants and a pair of shoes.
The father, He Liesheng, and his family were on vacation in New York. The boy, whose nickname is Duoduo, is crying and begging his father to pick him up. The father said that he was trying to strengthen his child, but that it was hard for him to ignore his son’s cries for comfort.
The father lives in Nanjing, China, and he said that because of his very tough parenting skills, he calls himself the “Eagle Dad.” In an interview with CNN, the father said that he wanted his son to partake in a training regimen. This includes mental activities and intense physical feats. His son was born premature and has consistently suffered from various health problems.
The father also said that he spoke with his son’s physician in order to make sure he wouldn’t be causing his son any harm. However, the video has been viewed by thousands of people and many in China who are outraged at how far parents are going to ensure their children are successful. There have been a lot of debates in China over parenting skills.
The father said that he wants to publish a book about his parenting techniques. However, many parents in China feel that what the man was the same as child abuse. Some are calling for the government to intervene and charge the father. In part of the video, there is audio that shows both the mother and father were encouraging their child to lie down in the snow.
