The Start of Super Bowl is Celebrated

February 7, 2012 by: 0

After a week of anticipation and speculation, the Super Bowl event has kicked off.  The Patriots kicked off to the Giants to open the spectacle. The NFC teams had won the last 14 pre-game coin tosses. Nevertheless the decision was deferred until the second half. This is a rematch of the 2008 contest where the Giants were able to upset the Patriots by 17 points to 14. Some of the sports commentators are of the view that a repeat is the most likely result given the over-confidence of the Patriots. It seems as if they set out a perfect season and then end up being beaten for the top prize.

Playing for success in a public arena

At the start of the gain the Patriots were celebrating a 10 game winning streak that saw them acquire an impressive 15-3 season record. They last faced the bitter taste of defeat against New York during the regular season on the 6th of November last year where the score was 24-20. As for the Giants they can boast of 5 consecutive wins and a season total that is modestly poised at 12-7. One wonders whether the roof at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis is going to have a big impact on the teams.

The audiences are estimated to be more than 100 million in a sport that dominates the American psyche like no other. By half time the Patriots were leading 10-9. Travis Beckum made an early exit while Tom Brady helped his team to lead at half time. A lot of unforced errors are expected as the pressure mounts. At half time Madonna gave her rendition of the show that was much anticipated in the celebrity circles. There is everything to show that an upset is on the horizon unless the Patriots can keep their score going for a long time.
