“The River” Set to Debut Tonight – Could Keep Viewers on the Edge of Their Seats

The River” is set to debut tonight on ABC and it’s already generated a lot of buzz. It’s supposed to be a cross between “The Blair Witch Project” and “Apocalypse Now,” so if you’re one to get a bit sick from jerky camera movements, it might not be the show for you. However, if you love unexpected twists and turns in your shows, then this could be your next big addiction.

The River” is about a zoologist that turns up missing. Emmet Cole is played by Bruce Greenwood, and he’s full of slapstick remarks. However, it’s just a few minutes into the show when Cole disappears in the Amazon. While you may think that this show is going to be a remake of sorts of “Lost,” it’s not. It’s a combination of a haunted house thriller mixed into a journey that takes remarkable and unexpected twists and turns.

As the rescuers begin to arrive to search for Cole, there’s little doubt that something malevolent is at work. Something’s killing the rescuers one by one and you may find yourself looking down to make sure there aren’t any leeches stuck to you.

The first episode is two hours long, so viewers will have a while to get a feel for Leslie Hope, who plays Cole’s wife. She’s determined to find her husband and when the rescuers stumble across an abandoned riverboat, they think they’ve finally found what they’re looking for. However, things will go from bad to horribly bad quickly. “The River” gives viewers a sense of claustrophobia, danger, and that there is a battle between good and evil going on. It’s probably not going to win any awards, but for most viewers, it’s going to be a lot of fun. This is especially true for those who are sitting in the comfort of their home where it’s all warm and toasty – and safe.
