The Red Wings Win their 21st Victory in a Row at Home

Some have argued that the winning streak was nearly at an end but that is not the story that the Red Wings wanted to tell when they won their 21st straight victory at home. Clearly there is something in the ground that gives them the inspiration to give something extra when they are in the midst of a contest. So many teams would love to have that magic but they unfortunately often fall short of the required standard. Joey MacDonald is the goalkeeper who managed to keep the Dallas Stars off the board right up to the last minute. The final score was 3-1 in favor of the wings. For the NHL, this is one of the highlights of the season.

Keeping winning at home and you will prosper

When we talk of home advantage, there is always an assumption that the team will enjoy familiar grounds. Nevertheless we also have to account for the fact that the home crowd might be rather intimidating with all their expectations. The Red Wings had to deal with pressures that could otherwise be avoided if they were playing in another ground. In different settings you somehow feel that there is nothing to lose since you are the underdog. This is when the shots keep coming right and you are not deterred even when in possession of a significant lead.

Did the opposition offer much against the Red Wings? For the most part they were held back by the brilliant defensive skills that were on display. Offensive players can become rather frustrated when they find that their targets are equally good at defense. That is when the unforced errors start to pile up. It is almost certain that in the future the team will always have a preference for the home ground. They have had some wonderful victories there.
