Following the unsuccessful release of the PlayStation Vita in Japan, Sony announced a special 3G bundle for their new handheld console in the U.S. This bundle was aimed to promote the 3G version of the Vita and an attempt by the company to score better sales for the console. The original 3G bundle promised gamers a 3G Vita, 8GB memory card, Stardust Delta DLC and a free month of 3G services. After a week of its launch, a lot of people are complaining about the 3G bundle that it did not actually give them what it promised.
The 3G bundle is available for $300, which sounds like a sweet deal with one month of free 3G service from AT&T, however, according to the actual bundle, you only get the free month if you pay for the 3G service for the first month. This costs an additional $14.99 to anyone who is buying the 3G bundle of PlayStation Vita. So if you are out to buy a 3G bundle, be warned, you will only get the free service in the second month of purchase.
If that doesn’t sound to too bad, wait until you find out what else is wrong with the bundle. When you buy it from the retailer, you don’t actually get the Stardust Delta immediately, it only becomes available after a month of purchase when you activate your 3G service from AT&T. This means that you will have to wait 30 days to get your hands on the free game.
When Sony officially announced the bundle, the company did not mention anything as such. But the information on some retailers is available. The bundle box of the PlayStation Vita also does not mention any such limitations to the package. This has been a very misleading campaign on Sony’s side which has lead to anger from a lot of customers. The deal does not sound attractive at all when you find out that you will not be getting the actual stuff the company promised as soon as you unbox your new Vita.
