President of Texas Rangers, who is also the team’s chief executive officer, Nolan Ryan has said that he is very confident about his team. Ryan said that the team that has been assembled is the strongest the club has ever seen.

On Wednesday, at a packed news conference, Ryan spoke about how the new team has impressed him especially with the new addition of Yu Darvish, the 6 ft 5 inch pitcher. Yu was acquired by the team for a hefty amount, which it had to pay for the player’s contract and also to the previous team of the player for which he played for. Ryan also spoke about the addition of Josh Hamilton to the team.

Ryan’s optimism was based on the talented young starting rotation of the Texas Rangers and the main good players of the team still being in their prime.

Texas Rangers, which are a two time defending American League champions, took on Yu Darvish on a six year contract for a hefty amount of $56 million after they gave a sum of $51.7 million to the Japanese club in order to have a chance to take the player over.

The President said that Yu has a big fan following and it is exciting to see that following. He said that a lot of people are excited about it. Adding further, he said that when he walked through the airport and many Americans don’t know him by name yet but say, “Boy, how about that Japanese pitcher y’all have?”

Ryan spoke mostly of Darvish, commenting on his style of delivery, saying that he has great control and delivers very well. Ryan said that Darvish is only 25 and makes a great young pitcher which adds to his credits.

Texas Rangers will be counting on Darvish greatly this season and with high hopes attached to him, the player should deliver.
