Up till now Facebook has always been the target for many critics and users alike for many issues regarding privacy and destroying people’s lives. A study went as far as calling Facebook the reasons for many users anti social behavior and depression. But a very recent study conducted by scientists in Italy, Facebook has finally received some positive feedback. According to the study recently conducted, scientists have discovered that Facebook is also capable of producing results such as bringing natural highs to its users and helping them get rid of stress and reducing anxiety levels.
The Italian scientists, who are the part of an online journal known as the Cyberpsychology, Behavior and Social Networking, tested around 30 different users of Facebook. During the tests, the scientists studied the physical changes and reactions of the users. They tested the blood flow, pupil dilation and breathing patterns of the users. While these people were logged on Facebook, they recorded signs of joy, which results in being a healthy mind and body.
Dr Simon Crisp, a psychologist from Melbourne also spoke in favor of Facebook, calling it a place where most users show the same excitement they would otherwise show in a party. He said that the more users interacted with the content available on the site, the more enjoyment they received. According to another study, the average time a user spends on Facebook daily comes to about 8 hours. During this time, users interact and catch up with their family and friends.
One of the major reasons why signs of joy appear in the users while they use Facebook is because of the positive response they receive from others. A lot of users post new profile pictures and most of the times the response is positive from their friends, which in return makes them happy. Social Networking has also become a great place for women who work at home to spend time and socialize with others.
After the study, users on Facebook can finally feel a little less guilty for using the social network services as proven by the science.
