Seattle Mariners are all set for an early start to spring training. Earlier in January, Eric Wedge called to choose several of Seattle Mariners requesting them to get to the Pacific Northwest in the dead of winter. Wedge just wanted to see himself if this group had pursued through during the offseason in getting themselves ready for the new season in the way he and his staff requested. However, this isn’t the first time in his career that Wedge had made such a request of a few players.
In a statement, Wedge said that he expects a lot from his players. He wants them to be strong and practice rigorously. Adding further, he said that he and his staff expects more from the players’. In order for the players to deliver they have to practice more. When the Seattle Mariners start spring training in Arizona this weekend, Rice Wedge will get the 1st look of any manger in baseball at how the offseason went. On Saturday, the pitchers and catchers will report whereas the first team training session is planned on Sunday. This year, the Mariners will open their season prior than anyone else as they have 2 games on the 28th and 29th March against the Oakland A’S. Seattle will get a jump because of this. However, the trip will make several logistical worries of the Marines. They are scheduled to play 2 exhibition games in Japan followed by 2 regular season games and then go back for the final days of spring play in Arizona.
On January meeting, Brendan Ryan Seattle shortstop said that in his view the idea was great. He said that it was really cool. Jack Zduriencik, Marines general manager supposes other areas of concern were addressed as well. With the additions of Shawn Camp, Hong Chih Kuo and George Sherrill, dept was added to the bullpen.
