No wonder the man is looking calmer by the day. The GOP and the entire Republican Establishment is working as part of his campaign for re-election. Last year it was presumed that Barack Obama would have a very difficult time retaining the White House. The unemployment rate was high and he did not seem to have the will to take on the volleys of abuse from the Republican Party. We then waited until the candidates lined up. One by one they have continued to show that they were never fit for office. From serial adulterers to serial liars to self righteous religious bigots, it seems that the GOP has collectively lost its mind. The President is now singing the blues.
Politicians with multiple talents
Despite all the noble pontifications, Barack Obama is a hungry politician. He knows the importance of working up a crowd without seeming to lose the dignity of the office which he occupies. Mick Jagger was only too willing to hand out the MIC to the most powerful man in the world. The president then belted blues as if he was born in a Church choir. The rich baritone that is capable of soaring rhetoric is also quite interesting when it sings. From then on the East Room of the venerable White House became an intimate club. Stars of the blues were there in attendance. It was a celebration of the past and the future.
His critics will moan about how the president should be concentrating on the economy instead of singing. That kind of talk has been on the go since he won the presidency and few people are bothered by it. Barack Obama seemed relaxed as he sang “Sweet Home Chicago”. This is the blues anthem and it connects to the town where his political career took off.
