PlayBook OS 2.0 Released

Research in Motion has launched its long awaited BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0.

The update was announced by senior vice president of RIM David J Smith through the company blog and also explained the details of the features of this new operating system. As expected, the new update have built-in email, calendar and contacts and also an update to BlackBerry Bridge a tool that lets users to use their BlackBerry smartphone as remote control for PlayBook. The upgrade has also upgraded Print to Go and Documents To Go utilities.

Other than these set of upgrades, the latest PlayBook OS 2.0 also lets the device to use Android apps submitted to BlackBerry App World. The latest OS also features better integration of popular social-networking websites like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Some of the early reviews from several users have claimed that the latest OS responses better than its previous version.

After the initial announcement of Smith, Vivek Gupta, the product manager of RIM said, “Video Chat on the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet allows you to make and take video calls with your friends, family, and colleagues who also have BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet…With just one click, you’ll able to have virtual face-to-face conversations using HD video cameras.”
