We all are getting to hear a lot about Nokia these days, as the company has launched few Windows Phones that are being thought as the life-saver phones for the Finnish handset maker. Aside from the phones, Nokia has again made its way to the top of the daily headlines since the company has announced another round of job cuts. The company will also shift more of its production of phones to Asia.

Nokia announced that it will get rid of 4,000 employees and will also turn existential factories to some other location to “smartphone product customization” in order to satisfy the niche demand. The job cuts will be made in Komarom, Reynosa, Hungary, Salo and Mexico by the end of this year, while three of the company’s factories will move to make boutique customized phones for the European and American markets.

As far as the regular production goes, the assembly of devices will be shifted to the facilities of the company in Asia. The company has pointed out that a major chunk of its component supplies are based in Asia which means shifting assembling of devices to the region will lower cost.

Nokia announced the first batch of job cuts and factor shutdowns last year in September, when it got rid of 3,500 employees from its facility in Romania. When the job cuts were made last year, the company also announced that it will close down its Location & Commerce sites in Malvern, Bonn, Germany and United States. CEO of the company called the move as painful but said it was necessary to align the company’s workforce and operations with their path forward.

However, the kind of customization which Nokia is planning is rather unclear. The company also revealed a new Batman: The Dark Knight Rises limited version of Lumia 800 but as of now, Nokia’s future plans remain unclear.
