New York Fashion week is one of the most log awaited fashion shows around the globe at the time. It is one of the four major fashion shows held including Paris, Milano and London with the same eagerness. This time, many designers spoke a lot about the lack of innovation in most of the fashions that were show casted in this.
Nevertheless the talents of Proenza Schouler designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez did not disappoint the audience and that added color to the whole show with their off the frame thinking and uniqueness. They have explored in the idea of more sophistication with jackets with a bigger proportion and dimmed colors like blacks, maroons and grays. The costumes were mostly inspired by sports suits such as karate and judo while the touch of Bhutan added some sizzle to the whole collection with colorful different kind of leather jackets.
The fabrics included cottons, laces, leathers and tunics whereas the base was mini skirts and wide legged pants with fancier jackets. The evening was dedicated to Asia which generally is far more colorful and elegant yet in an innovative way. Mini dresses were the icon of the show which was accessorized with high boots for a sportier look. There was novelty in the hand bags which have gone from girly to a nerdier look contrasting with minis and boots which gave an overall fashionable and novel look.

New York Fashion week ended with many inspirations to those who are still new to the field and looking from a professional point of view there were issues with the innovative levels of the designers comparing to the past fashion shows. Although the fashions come as a circle from the past to the present always, this time it looked as they had come far quicker from the recent past and that did seem like a weakness in designer’s imaginary levels. Nevertheless, fingers crossed for more ground-breaking and eye catching designs in the fashion weeks yet to come.
