Just when we thought hacking was over, the hackers have struck again. The newest hack attempt has been at the website of CIA, the Central Intelligence Agency, which the officials were not able to access on Friday, after Anonymous, the famous hacking group, said that they have knocked the website down.
Anonymous followed the usual routine of using Twitter to reveal it has brought the site down, saying “CIA Tango down”. The group wrote on @YourAnonNews on the social networking site. “Tango down” is a term used by Special Forces in United States when they have brought down an enemy.
People who tried to access the CIA website were met by no success as the site was offline. For more than two hours after the hack attempt was made on the website, officials made attempts to visit the site but later on, the site showed a message that said “web page not available”.
When CIA was inquired about the hack attempt, a spokesperson of the Central Intelligence Agency said that they are looking in the reports but didn’t give any confirmation about the hack or whether the site was hacked or it was a technical failure.
On Friday, members of the hacking group claimed to also lay their paws on Camimex’s website, which is the chamber of mines of Mexico and also posted emails which were taken from the website, on the internet. Camimex’s website was also inaccessible on Friday just as the CIA website wasn’t.
Last month, the hacking group knocked down few websites of the Justice Department of the United States, as well as the FBI. Along with these websites, the group also hacked Rihanna’s fanclub website and the reasoning it gave for hacking the website was that the fan site actively supported the government’s SOPA and PIPA acts, which it doesn’t of course.
