As he moves closer to his 18th season with the Braves, Jones is feeling positive about his health. Despite the fact the star had 2 knee surgeries in the previous 2 years, the last link to the Braves’ 1995 World Series championship is not ready to talk about finishing his career. The 3rd baseman, who is almost 40 years old, talked about the likelihood of playing 2 more years. Jones, who came to the Braves’ clubhouse for a workout revealed that he still feels he is capable of playing for the Braves. Adding further, he said that he can still play a solid 3rd base. He said that he can be most productive in the center of the lineup. Compared to the last year, it is a big change.
Jones talked about the option of retiring after a stern left knee injury that ended his 2010 season. The third baseman started spring training in 2011, unsure if he would be able to play. In his last season, Jones hit .275 with a total of 18 home runs and 70 RBIs despite the fact that he missed most of July following a serious knee injury. When asked about his outlook and expectation before the last season, Jones said that he is coming in calm. Adding further, he said that he feels much improved and wants to end the season on a high note. Jones said that he feels very confident and wants to go out and hit in the middle of the lineup. He said that he came out of it as he thought he could play the game.
The star had to fly to Atlanta for a MRI of his knee as he stepped into a hole while hunting. In a statement, Jones said that he was frightened that he had harmed himself again. He also said that he heard his knee pop as he stepped into the hole.
