John Cena Chosen as Daytona 500 Honorary Starter

John Cena has quite a resume. He’s a professional wrestler, an actor, and a rapper. Soon, he’ll get to give the start for the Daytona 500 as an honorary starter. Carl Edwards invited Cena at Monday’s night’s WWERaw event that aired on the USA Network. Edwards said that he was very honored to be the one to invite Cena to wave the green flag at the 54th annual Dayton 500, which will be on February 26th.

 

John Chitwood III, the president of the Daytona International Speedway, said that Cena is one of the greatest superstars today in WWE. Chitwood said that he is looking forward to seeing Cena on the flag stand and giving the drivers’ the go ahead to start. The Daytona 500 is the first race of the new NASCAR season and is known as “The Great American Race.”

 

There have been many sports superstars and other celebrities who have accepted the honor of being the honorary starter for the Daytona 500. Some of the past starters included Brett Farve, Terry Bradshaw, Mariah Carey, Whoopi Goldberg, and Ashton Kutcher.

 

John Cena has won a total of 19 wrestling championships, which includes 12 world titles. He started his wrestling career in 2000. He signed with the WWF (World Wrestling Federation) in 2001. He would move to the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) in 2002. He also has several film credits to his name, including “Legendary,” “12 Rounds,” and “The Marine.” “You Can’t See Me” was a rap album that hit number 15 on the Billboard 200 chart.

 

Cena’s also starred in two movies for the Nickelodeon channel called “Fred: The Movie” and “Fred 2: Night of the Living Fred,” which was released in 2010. He’s made several appearances on television series, including “Psych,” “Hannah Montana,” and “Deal or No Deal.”
