Triple Town is unlike any puzzle game I have ever played. Sure it borrows the same match the same color gems idea from other notable games, but the formula here has a twist, a twist that changes the experience into something completely unique. In this puzzle game, the players are tasked to place objects such as trees, grass and bushes in a grid of 6×6. When three of the similar objects combine, they turn into a new object with an upgraded status. For example, if you place three trees together, these become house and three houses build into an estate. I have finally gotten my hands on this interesting new puzzle for its review.
Most puzzle games have players planning ahead for good scores, but Triple Town makes it even important for players to plan ahead. If you plan properly you can end up scoring a lot of points, but if you don’t, you may find yourself in a lot of trouble at a later stage of the level. Like any other game, the simple concept is hiding a lot of depth for players. Players start off by placing grass on the floor, which turn into bushes and then into trees.
The amount of depth present in the gameplay of Triple Town is a lot, I found myself fighting with my brain over decisions to make throughout the review. When you combine everything, the last object that appears on the screen is a mansion, and to get a mansion, you need a lot of grass, so planning ahead is essential. However, the only disappointing factor of the game is that it does not include any other modes than the single player mode. I was expecting a challenge mode or a time trial mode which have become popular additions for puzzle games.
Before buying Triple Town, you should know that the developers have aimed for in game transactions. Instead of buying the full game, you will be able to download it for free, but however, you cannot take unlimited turns in a single day. If you purchase the game for $3.99 via in app transactions, you will be allowed to perform as many moves as possible.
