One of the mot important database in Windows is the system registry because they store all configurations related to the way the operating system works.

For this reason it is recommended that we periodically backup our registry, especially before making changes to our operating system or before installing some applications.

Although you can create a registry backup from the Registry Editor, sometimes it’s best to use third party applications to avoid complications, especially in cases when we do not have experience in working with the regedit program.

SMARegisTry Backup is a free application with the help of which Windows users can create selective backups of the system registry, and they can also restore a backup selectively.

How SMARegisTry Backup Works

SMARegisTry Backup can create, load and salve registry lists the user wants to backup. When we want to backup a specific registry key, we select the respective key and add it to the list in the right side of the application or we add it manually in the list.

Also, the application can restore individual registry keys or it can scan a folder for identifying it’s .reg fles, then it imports them all, at the same time, in the Windows registry system.

When you want to restore a registry key individually, you have to select the file then the key you want to restore. Then, SMARegisTry Backup connects with the regedit.exe API and will export the respective registry key in the chosen folder.

The SMARegisTry Backup application is the right choice for those who want to format and install Windows, but they want to keep their personal settings. The registry that contain the respective settings can be exported and then imported into the system registry after re-installation.
