The Zyxel NSA325 is diskless NAS device that is designed to give the user maximum control over their storage and the performance. Unlike built in storage NAS devices, this two bay device offers you a much more better control over the device and a very strong streamlined performance with massive amounts of features. The only problem with the device itself is that it isn’t as simple to set up as a pre built storage NAS device. A diskless unit ofcourse also means that you will have to install your own storage in the device. This review will focus on the specifications, features and performance of the device.
Design wise, the Zyxel NSA325 is a lot bigger than you would think. The disks don’t sit just sit in the device, you rail mount them inside the device so that they easily cling on the device. From the outside, the device has a glossy black outlook which makes it a great thing to put in your living room or bed room. If you do plan to put it inside a room, be sure to face its very bright LED light.
Using the Zyxel NSA325 NAS drive less bay, you can store a hard disk with up to 3TB of storage, which means you can utilize the drive for as much as 6TB of storage space. On the front side of the device, you can find a USB 3.0 port that is alongside two other USB 2.0 ports. These ports can ofcourse be used to increase the storage by adding in USB external hard drives. You can also attach a printer on the device itself to share it across your network.
One of the best features of the Zyxel NSA325 is its configuration utility which comes bundled with the device itself. This utility itself offers you hundreds of options to configure the device the way you want, but I strongly recommend that if you are not an advance computer user, you should just stay away from many of the options available. For those who are good at tech, many security and other options are available which you will not find in any other NAS device.
