The BenQ RL2240H is an average 22 inches LCD monitor that should offer you decent value for your money. Exceptionally great for people who are on a little tight budget, the screen will offer some of the better features we have seen in its rivals. BenQ sells the screen on the basis that this is one of the best screens meant to be used by strategy games enthusiasts. I tried putting it to the tests during the review to find out if the claim was true. The screen also comes with a dedicated setting especially designed to work with strategy games.
If compared to other LCD monitors in the group, the BenQ RL2240H is actually a lot more expansive than the others I have done a review for. But I can easily forgive the higher price due to the extra features the company has implemented in the screen. When playing games, higher response time is a huge requirement. This LCD monitor offers 2ms response time, which is actually the fastest response time I have come across in the group of similar LCD monitors. The screen also comes with an advanced acceleration mode that enhances the screen response; however, I was slightly disappointed with the results.
One of the best features of the BenQ RL2240H in my opinion is the vast amounts of configuration options available to you. There are several different image modes you can select from and even change the aspect ratio of the screen to work like a 17 inch square monitor. During the performance tests in the review, I was slightly disappointed when I compared the screen with others in the group. The colors were a bit washed out and the viewing angles were pretty bad. Even in full brightness, the screen wasn’t able to produce best results under light.
Keep in mind that when you buy the BenQ RL2240H, you will be provided with only a VGA cable. However, the screen does have the input options to plug the monitor through DVI or HDMI. There is also a 3.5 mm Jack available for you should you wish to plug-in your headphones.
