The reports are out showing that Marcia Gay Harden has filed for divorce. The actress has been known for an Oscar gong which she grabbed in 2005. At the time she was married to Thaddeus Scheel. The relationship lasted for up to 15 years but now they have decided to call time on it. Many people will be sad to hear that one of the enduring celebrity marriages is collapsing before our eyes. The younger generation tends to bed hop at every opportunity and that means that it will increasingly become rare to see marriages that are able to last the distance in all the circumstances.
The end of the road for the sweethearts
A spokesperson for the 52 year old star confirmed the news. A statement was quickly released to the effect that Marcia Gay Harden and Thaddeus Scheel were hoping for an amicable settlement for the sake of their three children. They also made it clear that they would rather that they were afforded some privacy. Of course this is going to be next to impossible given the press interest in her magnificent career. Most of the tabloid press is interested in looking at the salacious elements of a breakup rather than respecting the wishes of the family to be left alone.
Although the family made it clear that they were not going to make a running commentary on the divorce, it is almost certain that there will be some level of curiosity as to why they decided to split after more than a decade together.
