Chris Brown under Investigation for “Robbery by Snatching”

Chris Brown is in the news a lot and it seems like a lot of the time, it’s not for a positive reason. He’s on probation for assault on Rihanna, his ex-girlfriend.  Now, there is an investigation underway by the Miami Police Department because a 24 year old woman said that he grabbed her phone and then drove off.

Christal Spann, the 24 year old victim, alleges that Brown was leaving Cameo, a nightclub in Miami, and she was trying to take pictures of him in his Bentley with her cell phone. Apparently Brown did not want his picture taken, so he took the woman’s phone away from her and drove off. According to Spann’s report with the police, Brown said, “B—ch, you ain’t gonna put that on no website.” The phone was reportedly an iPhone.

The Miami Police have not released any type of formal statement, as of yet. However, Katherine Fernandez Rundle, who is the Florida state attorney, did issue a statement on Thursday. Rundle said that she wanted to address the reports that Brown had been arrested or will be arrested in the near future. Rundle said that prosecutors are interviewing witnesses to the incident. Once those interviews are completed, then the attorney general’s office would review all of the information before there would be any action taken. The possible charge could be “robbery by snatching.”

Brown won a Grammy earlier this year, which has also caused a bit of commotion. Many feel that there were other artists who were more deserving. He is serving a sentence of five years’ probation after he pled guilty to assaulting Rihanna back in 2009. Should he be arrested again, especially on this type of new charge, then he could end up in jail for a probation violation.
