Bryan Stow’s Statement Deemed False By Los Angeles Dodgers

he Los Angeles Dodgers have asked a United States Bankruptcy Judge to forbid claims against the team filed by the San Francisco Giants fans, Bryan Stow who was almost beaten to death outside Dodger Stadium last spring. Furthermore, he and his family charged the Los Angeles Dodgers in California state court and then filed the claim with the federal court in July. The claim was filed weeks after Frank McCourt, the owner of the team put the team in bankruptcy. In a 37 page motion filed with United States bankruptcy judge Kevin Gross, the Dodgers said that the claim is based on the flawed basis that a landowner is an insurer of the protection of persons on its property.

As a result of the intense beating that he received after the Dodgers’ home opener against the Giants, Stow sustained a stern brain injury. The doctors prescribed Stow to take complete bed rest for 6 months. Until October he was hospitalized and was then shifted to a rehabilitation facility. Marvin Norwood and Louie Sanchez were charged in the attack. The police described the brutal attack as the result of a thread of arguments the pair had with randomly chosen Giants fans at the venue. The team is expected to be sold by April 30. Thomas Girardi, Stow’s lawyer revealed that the rarely in history has an owner of a team been more detested and reviled than he is for his dreadful conduct. In a statement, the Dodgers said that on the day of this sad incident, approximately 442 security personnel’s were on duty in the ballpark and parking lots. Compared to this, in 2010 there were only 398 police personnel’s.

The Dodgers said that Stow cannot prove that the security staff on the opening day caused his injuries. Adding further, the Dodgers said that the security staff at the game wholly surpassed all requirements of California state law. Furthermore, the Dodgers added that the team had no information of any improper conduct by Stow’s assailants. Girardi said the Dodgers had presented sworn statements in the case that contained falsehood.
