AMD Tackles The Mobile Devices Market
by

CEO Rory Read said that soon we are going to witness AMD’s entry on the mobile devices market through tablets with Windows 8 that will be released this year.

Although right now there are no plans to enter the smartphones market, we suspect that we are going to witness this move too as AMD wants to not stay behind Intel.

According to some sources, the Hondo platform is the one that will open the path to tablets, this because of the features that recommends it: reduced energy consume, 40 nanometers technology process and integrated graphic chipset ( APU – accelerated processing unit ).

It is understandable that AMD will make this move considering that Intel already attacks the smartphones market with the help of the Medfield chipset.

It remains to be seen how AMD will manage to impress and to regain some of the sparkle from the past, lost because of the performances recorded by Intel lately.
