The Audioengine A5+ aims to provide a very high quality performance and this review tests the theories against the reality. We love the flat response speakers particularly because they tend to improve the quality of the bass. The design is not too bad for a product that has very utilitarian origins. They have not made it cheap and the quality of the output is something that is to be admired across the board.

Specifications: Let us first get the bad stuff out of the way. The review of the Audioengine A5+ showed that it has insufficient controls on the remote. For example you may find it difficult to adjust the bass or treble. That means that your dimensions when listening to music are severely restricted. There is no subwoofer or booming bass for this gadget but that is precisely why it has become a favorite. We love the fact that they are not attempting to add elements that are outside the bargain. On the pricing front you will need to come up with $199. That is not altogether a bad deal especially when you consider the effort that they have put into the basic design.

The dimensions of the Audioengine A5+ are 10.75” by 7.75” by 7”. For some people this is an indicator that the gadget is rather bulky. Nevertheless we are of the view that there is sufficient adjustment to ensure that you are not inconvenienced by the gadget. Certainly we did not face any major problems during this review. The colors that are offered include satin black, glossy white and bamboo. For some of the color selections you may need to come up with an extra $70. That may be something that you consider to be inherently unfair but they claim that the colors are on the premium level. Should we believe them? It is certainly a good looking gadget.

Pros: You get basic good quality sound with this one.

Cons: The remote is still very limited.

Editor rating: The review recommends 4 stars out of 5 for the Audioengine A5+.
