In some ways it has been a tedious series but in reality we would not miss it for the whole world. Now we are saying goodbye to “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”. This recap highlights the personalities and stories that kept us glued to the television screen even as we realized that we were probably watching a lot of junk that would never make it to the Oscars. The highlights are particularly focused on those participants that made fools of themselves and the challenges of managing personal lives. At the end of the day this is what television has to offer.
From personal lives to reality television
One of the most serious charges against “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” is the fact that many of the stories that it peddles are anything but real. The various players are nothing more than actors who are trying to jump onto the reality television bandwagon. How can we forget the psychological battles between Kim and Kyle Richards? That is the beauty of a show that brings out all the raw elements of humanity for all those audiences that are looking to be entertained by the foibles of others. The experimental approach to these programs has been replaced by a deep-seated cynicism.
Kim then decided to seek treatment. Of course the entire episode had to be included in the schedules that run “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”. The idea behind the program is that we should see every single aspect of the contestants’ personal lives. The therapy session was a masterstroke by Bravo which rivals many of their publicity stunts which have ended up driving the ratings through the roof. There is no imminent danger that the program is going to lose the faithful. Certainly they seem to have gotten the marketing mix absolutely correct.
