Introduction: When we are undertaking a game review of Mass Effect 3, we have to resist the temptation to stick to the technical elements. There is an entire list of potential accessories and aides that can be attached to the gaming experience. In fact players may be given choices as to whether they want to pursue the raw elements of the game or whether they are interested in adding a bit of sophistication. We try to break down the game so that it becomes a sum of its parts.

Highlights: First of all we have to point out the fact that we take a dim view of all the merchandizing that is taken place on behalf of the game. A game review of Mass Effect 3 should be able to concentrate on the things that are important instead of wasting time on the frivolities. The keyboard does some interesting things which might be of benefit to a generation of gamers who are used to the PC and its primacy. They have effectively done the transition in terms of the controls so that you get an experience that is out of this world. This is the final chapter in the Bio-Ware sci-fi trilogy. There are plenty of action figures to keep your interest especially if you are into movement. It can work very well with most iOS systems. The package includes a FaceBook application which will be of benefit as you attempt to link to the world of social media. What is there not to like?

A cautious tone might be required when undertaking a game review of Mass Effect 3. In particular there is concern that the transition has not taken sufficient notice of the needs of the people that are new to this experience. They automatically assume that you will understand all the sub plots that are being presented. Unfortunately for the most part, this is something of an experiment. You are in effect trying to work out how far you can play the game without losing focus on the things that matter most. We love the fact that you can download any additional items if you feel the need to. This is the kind of flexibility that we have been hoping for all along.

Pros: Credit has to go to the team for the efforts that have been put into Mass Effect 3. They have a good storyline going with plenty of special effects. We also like the accessories.

Cons: A detailed knowledge of the background is required before you can make this thing work. It is not entirely clear whether most players are up for such a challenge.

Editor rating: Based on the gaming review above, we hope that 4.5 stars out of 5 are fair for Mass Effect 3.

Rating: 4.5
