With last year’s Asus Eee Pad Transformer, the company set new standards for the tablet market running on the Android Honeycomb. The simple reason behind its success was its unique design that allowed you to attach a keyboard and turn it into a notebook. This simply made the tablet stand out from the crowed of countless similar Android tablets. Asus is now back with the Asus Transformer Prime, and this time the company means serious business. Unlike other manufacturers, who only add few additions to their next edition of tablets, Asus has gone two steps ahead, setting new standards once again. Read on the review to find out what makes this tablet so special.
The first thing that makes the Asus Transformer Prime stand out from others is its new and powerful processor. The tablet is the first to be powered by the new Nvidia Tegra 3 quad core processor. This is also one of the very few tablets that are offering the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich experience. With the powerful specifications, an extended hardware keyboard and latest software, the Asus has left us impressed with its $500 only price.
My review unit of the Asus Transformer Prime shipped with a cleaning cloth, USB cable (proprietary) and a wall charger. Design wise, the tablet is quite impressive thanks to its rounded corners. Holding the tablet in your hand instantly gives you the feeling that it is made out of high quality materials. It’s also pretty much the best looking Android tablet so far.
The display of Asus Transformer Prime is something really worthy to note. It features a WXGA 10.1 inches display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. For a 10 inches tablet, this screen is a massive improvement from other tablets. It really deserves applaud because I have not seen such a beautiful output in a tablet before. Wide view angles, bright and saturated colors are all part of this display that makes it a lot better than usual screens. The Asus Transformer Prime is really worth getting your hands on if you are in to buy a tablet; this truly is a master piece.
