Samsung OS Bada to Merge with Intel Backed Tizen

Samsung Electronics, the Korean based electronic giant has shown deep interest in merging its mobile operating system Bada with Tizen, an open Linux based operating system which is capable of working different platforms.

Tizen is expected to bring advantages of other projects like Maemo and MeeGo like better and advanced functionality as well as number of applications. Tizen came into existence because of the Samsung Linux Project and offers full functionality of a mobile OS. It is quite similar to Bada as both are based on Linux.

The Tizen OS incorporates modules from Nokia led MeeGo project that was initially led by Intel. However, at present Tizen operating system is jointly led by Intel and Samsung.

Samsung’s content planning team’s senior vice president Tae-Jin Kang said, “We have an effort that will merge Bada and Tizen.”

As both the operating system are based on Linux, the updation process will hardly face any problem. In order to make things easier for developers, the SDK or Software Development Kit that will be developed will be fully compatible for both Tizen and BADA operating system.

On the other hand to enhance the appeal of Bada operating system, Samsung has let developers to transform or port existing popular applications based on iOS, Symbian, and Android platforms to Bada. Samsung has thus released detailed help topics and tools for Bada based developers also few days back.
