Nokia, the Finnish mobile phone maker, has been trying its best to regain market share and mark its territory in the United States market, where it has lost a lot of its market share. In an attempt to do just that, the company has planned to launch three phones, of which two are high end phones and one is a midmarket phone. Even though the strategy is clever, there are still plenty of reasons why it will fail.
Firstly, Nokia’s product designs aren’t out of the box. The new devices based on Windows 7 are nothing but ordinary in terms of design. The company hasn’t put in careful thinking in product design, something which will offset consumers. If Nokia has to regain its market share, it should go beyond the normal and do something extraordinary.
Secondly, the company does not have dedicated fans like Apple does. Nokia becomes an old story when it comes to phones because Apple and Android are now the dominating names in mobile world. Nokia does not has a sound customer following and its customers aren’t loyal which means there is no reason to assume, as mostly do when it comes to Apple, that irrespective of what the company launches, it will become a hit.
Moreover, Microsoft has also not succeeded in maintaining its customer trust. The company has lost mobile space. There are better options that exist now in the tech world such as iOS and Android and Microsoft has been left at the end of the race. Microsoft’s lack of support by customers hasn’t had much assistance from Nokia either. Another reason why Windows based phones by Nokia will not work out is because enterprise customers don’t use Windows phones. It is not a stated fact but something one can deduce by using common sense. Microsoft has disappointed, especially after considering the offerings by iOS and Android, while Nokia is also lagging and a combination between these two companies may not prove to be beneficial after all.
